Porterville Paragliding Sites - Ceres Mountain

GRADING: PG (SPORT); HG(C).
DESCRIPTION: "Waboomberg" overlooks the dry fruit valley of Ceres.  Expect a very thermic flight from this inland paragliding site.
WIND: SSW - SSE.
GPS: +- S33º15’ E19º28’.
LAUNCH: To the South-West of the radio mast is a gently sloping fynbos field (easy pull-up) at the top of a serrated gully with cliffs.
ALTITUDES: Launch at 1000m (1600m ASL).  Ceiling is 4400m ASL (FL145).
CAUTIONS: Strong turbulent W wind in summer afternoons.
RECORDS: 40km Out/Ret (Ant Allen), 113 km towards Laingsburg Jan 2011.
CARETAKERS: Ant Allen.
PERMISSION: R300 day fee for road access and site use!
