Porterville Paragliding - Bergrivier vineyards in winter.

The Bergrivier area of the Western Cape is scattered with vineyards and Porterville has its own winery and cellar. The winery plays a key role in the planting and managing of the vineyards on regional farms to ensure that the cellar receives the correct quantities and quality of grapes.

The principal varieties of grape grown locally are Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The area also produces Pinotage wines and new cultivars, such as Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are being produced in greater volumes to satisfy the demand for quality red wines.
